These Sterling Topaz Post Earrings are flower shaped. First, we etched the flower design into 20 gauge .935 Argentium Sterling Silver. Next, we set the 6mm rose cut London Blue Topaz cabochons in 30 gauge Argentium sterling bezel cups. Then, we enhanced the etched areas with hand stippling. Finally, we used pearl pegs to attach the Japanese Blue Grey Cultured Half Drilled Pearls. These Sterling Topaz Post Earrings measure 1″ x 1/2″. We used surgical stainless steel posts on the earrings. The earnuts are sterling silver.
These earrings are absolutely lovely. The depth of the dark blue in the Rose Cut London Blue Topaz Cabochons is gorgeous. The Japanese cultured pearls have a beautiful sheen. These earrings would make a fabulous addition to your jewelry collection.
An English professor of silversmithing invented Argentium sterling silver in 1996. Traditional sterling silver has a pure silver content of 92.5%. In contrast, Argentium has a pure silver content of 93.5%. A small amount of the element germanium replaces some of the copper. As a result, this sterling silver is highly tarnish resistant, more workable and harder than traditional sterling silver. Many people who are allergic to traditional sterling silver can wear Argentium sterling silver without a problem.
