Silver Blue Chalcedony Earrings, .935 Argentium Sterling Silver, Handcrafted, Nature Inspired Design by Two Silversmiths

The Silver Blue Chalcedony Earrings are Flower shaped.  They feature 8 mm round Blue Chalcedony cabochons.  Also, they feature 14×7 mm Blue Chalcedony Faceted Drops.  To begin our creation, first we etched the Flower design into 20 gauge .935 Argentium Sterling Silver.  Next, we set the cabochons in 30 gauge .935 Argentium Sterling Silver bezels. Then, to attach the faceted drops, we used pegs.  Finally, we enhanced the etched areas with hand stippling. These Silver Blue Chalcedony Earrings measure 1-5/8″ x 3/4″.  Also, we make our ear wires using .935 Argentium Sterling Silver wire.

These earrings have a sophisticated look.  The coloring of the cabochons and faceted drops is subtle.

An English professor of silversmithing invented Argentium sterling silver in 1996.  Traditional sterling silver has a pure silver content of 92.5%.  In contrast, Argentium has a pure silver content of 93.5%.  A small amount of the element germanium replaces some of the copper.  As a result, this sterling silver is highly tarnish resistant, more workable and harder than traditional sterling silver.  Many people who are allergic to traditional sterling silver can wear Argentium sterling silver without a problem.
